Photogrammetry

Photogrammetry and drone surveys

Photogrammetry for precise capture and processing of survey data from the air: large sites, quarries, construction sites and earthwork volumes in Varna and the region.

What we offer

  • Topographic surveys of large sites suitable for drones. Precise surveys of large areas and structures using a drone, for accurate and detailed survey data.
  • Earthwork volume calculations (cut and fill) from drone surveys. Precise volume calculations based on drone data, for accurate and efficient project work.

When it beats ground surveying

For large areas, hard-to-reach terrain, quarries and stockpiles, a drone survey is faster and gives a complete picture of the terrain rather than individual points. The result is a digital terrain model from which volumes are calculated and plans are produced.

For small gardens and exact boundaries a ground survey is usually more suitable: a topographic survey with a total station or GPS. We often combine both methods.

Applications

  • solar parks and large investment sites;
  • quarries and stockpiles: regular volume calculations;
  • construction sites: monitoring of cut and fill;
  • a basis for grading plans for large areas.

What you receive

  • a digital terrain model with heights;
  • contour plans for design;
  • volume calculations between two dates or against a design level;
  • data in the cadastre's coordinate system, compatible with the other survey materials.

Limitations

Under dense vegetation and in shaded areas the drone cannot see the ground, so we supplement with ground measurements there. Flights are made in suitable weather and in line with the rules for unmanned aircraft systems. For exact property boundaries, a drone does not replace setting-out with a total station or GPS.

How the work proceeds

  1. Planning

    We define the area, the required accuracy and the flight permits needed.

  2. Ground control

    We measure ground control points with GPS for an accurate model.

  3. Flight

    We survey the site with a drone.

  4. Processing

    We produce a digital terrain model, plans and volume calculations.

Timeframe

The timeframe depends on the size and complexity of the task and on your specific requirements. We will give you a timeframe together with our quote. The time the relevant institution needs to review the documents comes on top of that.

Frequently asked questions

Accuracy depends on the flight height, the camera and the ground control points we measure with GPS. We agree the required accuracy when we prepare the quote.

We use a range of high-precision equipment, including GPS, total stations and drones, to provide accurate and reliable survey data.

Yes. It is one of the most common uses: the volume of an excavation, fill, stockpile or quarry.
